Congratulations on the publication of your pattern. My favorite socks are the Boys Scout socks that I made for my four Webelos Scouts when they crossed over to Boy Scouts three year ago. I have also made them for myself, the Cubmaster, Summer Camp Scoutmaster and the three winners of our troops Chili/Bingo/Silent Auction fundraiser. The highest price paid was $50. My Boy Scout socks are special because they have a red cuff and red heels and toes just like in the old days. The store bought ones just have the red cuff.

My MOST favorite socks to knit were the zig zag socks by cavyshops. It was a KAL in one of the groups I belong to. I didn't especially care for the yarn I used but the pattern was great. It was written for a novice novice like me to fully understand. I liked how the pattern worked with a verigated yarn and know it will be much better in a solid color. I am going to do them again with a different yarn soon.

Well...my favorite sock to knit (so far) has been Cookie A's Monkey Sock, in Lorna Lace's Purple Iris colorway.
It's a fun pattern, not boring, yet easy to repeat and resize if needed, with an awesome funky pattern for the leg...I like Lorna's Laces for the feel, color, and give of the yarn for this pattern. I can't wait to try this pattern in Perchance to Knit's
Neon Beach Blanket colorway! I'm also looking forward to trying this new pattern you have...it looks awesome, and especially in this colorway! Kris in NH :)

Applause and accolades are cybersent to you! It must be very exciting to have those stunning socks published on such a prestigious site as Crystal Palace.
My favs were a simple lace pattern based on a mock cable with eyelets. They are yellow handspun wool, and very soft on the feet.
I love lacey looking patterns, especially living in Dallas, where a denser fabric is too warm most of the year.

Congratulations on the publication of your new pattern! My favourite socks are one of Jean Townsends patterns, they are called Lisa's Lace. I used Lorna's Laces sockyarn and the socks are so beautiful and so soft on my feet.

What a great pattern! Congrats on the publication! *grins*
My favorite socks would have to be "Standing in the Shadow of Love" socks; the pattern was really fun to knit (I love the lacy top!) and was challenging but not too difficult. I always get many compliments on them! I knit them in Paton's Kroy in Navy and Cream on us Size 2 needles. Guess I should dig them out and get some photos! LOL Shadow knitting is so cool! *grins*

I have not yet made a pair of socks, but as soon as I finish my sweater (maybe one more week) I am mustering the gumption to try and knit a pair of socks. I am absolute intrigued by it and excited to learn to knit my own socks. Wish me luck.

Congratulations on your pattern being published that must be so exciting. My favorite socks so far have been the monkey socks that I have been knitting the last week. This is my first pair of socks for me and not someone else lol...I am using trekking xxl this is the first time I have used this yarn. I have some lorna laces coming soon and cant wait to try it I have never used it, I am a new knitter...I hope to make another pair of the monkey socks for my daughter if she don't steal these from me first...lol...she will be 13 on the 6th of april...OOhhh the teenage years......

Really cute socks!

My favorite socks were the flame/hot rods socks I made for my husband with Baby Ulle yarn. They were only the third pair of socks I ever made, I had only been knitting for a few months and I decided to try fair isle on socks. arrgghh! I learned so much and my husband loves the socks even through they are a little too big for him!

Congrats the publication on your great patterns. Got the SOTM Club pattern this weekend and I can't wait to try it out. And I really like the Pink cobblestones pattern too. The pink is a great color for that pattern

The pair of socks I am currently knitting is my current favorite. It is Pomatomus by Cookie A. I am knitting it in Sol Joy Lagoon. It is my favorite because I really adore the combination of pattern and yarn. The yarn is very soft and a complete joy to knit and the pattern is quite interesting - challenging enough to be fun but not so difficult that it is discouraging.

Of course, when I start Road to Hana (my next sock) it may become my new favorite. Can't wait to try it out.

Yay on the pattern!

Not sure what my favorite pattern is - I've written some and knit others' socks, too - but my favorite yarn is Socks That Rock for wool and Cascade Fixation for cotton.

My favorite sock is actually the one I just finished - I used Mountain Colors Bearfoot in the Glaciar Teal colorway, and the pattern was Mad-tini, which is the Round 2 sock from Sock Madness (not publicly available until after SM is completely over, and then only at the discretion of the designer). I really liked the pattern, which had a very interesting ribbing (not your standard knit and purl). Mostly, I love the yarn. I've used mostly the big commercial yarns before now, but the Bearfoot is just wonderful. I love that it's a little heavier than your standard sock yarn, so I can get a good dense gauge with it without using size 0 needles... I love the colors, and the way they behaved... it's wonderfully soft, and feels so amazing both running through my fingers and in the finished sock... and the nylon and mohair content should make it wear really well. I can't wait to make more socks with this yarn!

Sarah said...

My favorite socks were the first ones that actually worked out for me. I went through three terrible iterations (see the comicial pictures on my blog) before I finally figured out the fabric was way too loose. I went down two needles sizes, and now I can't stop.

Anonymous said...

My favorite socks were the first pair I ever made! They are just a basic ribbed cuff out of Opal. It was more the sense of accomplishment that "I DID A SOCK!" than the pattern or yarn!

Wow -- the Menehune Cobblestones socks are GORGEOUS!!! They're definitely on my to-do list!

My favorite socks (for now) are my Elegant Cables socks knit in a dark green Regia Silk (sock of the month from The Knitter. They're the first pair (for me) that I completely finished, and I'm wearing them now. The yarn is soft and cushy on my feet and I love the pattern.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful patterns!!

my favorite socks to make are the free pattern that Patons has for Kroy. it is my favorite because it is the same one my Grandmother used. I did my very first sock from that pattern with Kroy self patterning. It was alot of fun and turned out well for a first try. I love the pattern you did - it turned out beautiful.

I am currently knitting my very first pair of socks. You can see pictures at my blog. http://knitandrip.blogspot.com. I love the yarn that I am knitting these socks with it is arty yarns superwash merino. The pattern was found at knitty.com and was one of the more masculine patterns I have found so far. These beauties are for my husband so the yarn and pattern will suit him well. I have to say that although I haven't yet knit other socks these will have to be my favorite no matter what somes after them, because they are my first attempt all on my own. Congrats on your pattern publication.
All the best,

My absolute favourite pair of socks were just the plainest "plain vanilla" socks. Knit in 100% plain gray wool and as plain a pattern as you could possibly think of! What made them special was that I knit them with my gandmother so that she could teach me how to turn the heel! We were sitting at her kitchen table knitting well past midnight, happily knitting and chatting, only taking short breaks to make more tea! It was a very long night, but in the end we'd knit a pair of childrens socks and I had learnt to turn the heel. It's been 15 years or so now since we had our knitting marathon and my grandma has now stopped knitting (pain in her wrists), so for her birthday this last January I thought it was only right that I knit her some socks. And if you wonder what happend to the childrens socks we produced, they were given to my cousins first born when he came along a few years later.

I am happy that your pattern was recently published!

Congrats on having your pattern published. I will have to print it off and knit those up! It will be hard to pick my favorite pair of socks, I've knit so many that are. But if I have to choose one it would have to be my pink Lorna's Laces Foot Cozy socks. I adapted the pattern from a glass cozy pattern in the fall 2006 issue of Vogue Knitting. They are soft and warm and make me happy when I wear them.

My VERY favorite pattern is Cascading Leaves thad was written by Jeannie Townsend. It is the first pair I ever finished so when I get back into the pattern to use it again there is always a good feeling connected to it!! I have since discovered many other wonderful sock patterns and pattern writters (Yeah for Charlene Schurch!!) but that ONE pattern is my favorite one

Anonymous said...

Absolutely love your socks. Very pretty, the pattern and the yarn.

My most favorite pair of socks so far is the last pair I did, using Opal yarn. It was a simple basic cable pattern on the leg of the sock. They fit great, and they feel wonderful. And the pattern was so easy, they went very quickly.

Have a good day :)

My favourite are Fair Isle Sock from The Fold http://www.thefoldatmc.net/
I used the same colours as in the pattern but made both differently. There were more than enough fair isle patterns for one sock and you could choose your own but I used all the patterns to make them 'odd' socks.

My favorite socks that I knit were a pair of pink socks made with woolease. They worked up very easily and I used the original death by sock pattern to knit them. They turned out lovely and they have stood the test of time and still look as good as the day I made them. They keep my feet super warm in the winter and they are very soft. Hoping to knit some in cotton soon so that I have a pair of summer socks. Congrats on your pattern publication!

My favorite would have to be the
ones I made for myself and then
my mother "stole" right off my feet.
She had a massive stroke last year
and cannot communicate at all. But,
when she looked pointedly at my feet
and began to push the ones she was wearing off, I knew exactly what she was saying. I made them from Lorna's
Laces Shepherd Sport and she managed to
communicate that day very clearly,

Congrats Adrienne! My favorite socks...hmm...I guess I'd have to say my Koigu Dublin Bay socks that won the blue ribbon at last year's MN State Fair. My DH was so proud- he has forbidden me to wear the socks because he wants to frame them. LOL. They're just socks but I guess they are my 15 minutes of knitting fame. :)

Aw heck, why not! :)

My favorite socks are the ones on the needles. lol I'm kidding. My Hedera socks are my favorite, they were only my second or third pair of socks. They get the most wear too, as they can be dressy or casual. Plus...they are purple, hand-dyed by me!

Your socks are amazingly beautiful. Such talent! As for my favourite socks, they would have to be the Snake Skin Socks from the Six Sox Knitalong. I usually knit socks and am patient but I knit a pair with some 'gifted' Sockotta and I made up the pattern. My favorite socks to date are two pair s of bedsocks for my dad from 3 strands of pale blue and 3 strands pale yellow laceweight lambswool/angora from Richard at Colourmart.com . The pattern was loosely based on the Widdershin socks from Knitty.com with ribbing along the top of the sock, and around the arch. While all those strands were fiddly to keep organized, the sock is so fuzzy, thick and warm that it was more than worth it.

Agh! Second time trying to post a comment. Sigh. I don't remember what else I said, other than I wanted to use that yarn ever since I first heard of it, to make socks for my mom - who rarely wears the wool socks I've made for her, but regularly wears any cotton or cotton blend socks I've made.

My favorite pair: a pair of scrap yarn, mismatched socks, with various & random lace & patterned patterns on it. Totally different, but they were fun to make, and are fun to wear!

Janette said...

Well, this is an easy question as I've only completed one pair of socks. I made a pair of socks for my 3 year old daughter in November. They are self-striping and pink, pink and dark pink. She begged and begged for me to finish them and was always up for trying them on. She wore the first one quite a bit until I finished the second. She would get so excited and say, "That socks for me!" Toddlers are fickle, though. I finished the second sock and she refuses to wear them. They now reside in her purse and are often take on stroller rides with her baby.
