meet me at the fair

i really enjoy attending our county fair. i get to indulge myself with funnel cake, cotton candy, hawaiian shaved ice with ice cream, bubba's pulled pork sandwiches, etc. too yummy!

i also like the creative living exhibit with its quilts, hand knits, crochet, & art competition. i have been entering things in the county fair competition for over 10 years now. it is fun to see what others are making. i love looking at the quilts; probably because i do not quilt...yet...but am amazed at the beauty of the finished products.

this year, i entered 4 items. i received TWO best of shows! how EXCITING is THAT?!

"sideways baby sweater"

my "road to hana" socks received a third and my baby surprise sweater (yes, i did finish it, thank you) received an honorable mention.

so who else plays at their county fair? i feel a contest coming......

Congratulations on your ribbons, and thanks for the inspiration! I've never entered anything at our local fair, but I'm seriously considering it this year.

Do you mind mentioning where you got the pattern for the "Road to Hana" socks? I just love the name, lol!

How awesome! 4 items and 4 prizes!!
I entered a baby blanket in our county fair and won a first and a pair of last minute baby socks and won a 2d AND judge's favorite!
For some reason this year, I passed by the funnel cake - but made sure I got my cotton candy!!!!

My older kid went to the fair w/the neighbors last week to go on the rides, but I think I drag her back just so I can see your winning items!

- Leslie's (tapmouse's) friend who has a bunch of your free patterns on my to-knit list

I *love* our county fair, and yes, I do enter my knitted things. I've taken home one best of needlework for a 'russian' lace scarf I made for my sister.

Is the lilacs socks the pattern from Jeanie T.?
